A Goal-Based Typology of Sociogovernance Processes in Marine Protected Areas

The paper develops a goal-based typology of sociogovernance processes to support effective and inclusive Marine Protected Area management, integrating insights from environmental governance, psychology, and marine social sciences. It identifies three core pillars—Knowledge and Understanding, Engagement and Participation, and Policies and Interventions—highlighting how their interactions can guide the selection of tools and improve stakeholder collaboration in achieving conservation goals.
