We are pleased to announce that we have officially launch of the MPA Community Network last week - a collaborative initiative dedicated to advancing ocean conservation through knowledge-sharing, joint research, and meaningful dialogue.
The MPA Community Network is now live with a dedicated website, active social media presence on Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as a growing networking group on BlueBioMatch. These platforms offer spaces for connection, exchange, and updates on collective activities across the MPA landscape.
At the heart of this community is the ambition to co-create: members collaborate on shared activities, co-publish outputs, develop practical resources, and engage in joint research. Our goal is to foster a dynamic and inclusive space where practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders can work together towards effective and equitable marine protection.
While the network is already active, we are also in the process of developing a dedicated Blueprints Platform under the Blue4All project, which will be available under the MPA Community Network website. This platform will act as a one-stop hub for tools, methodologies, and best practices related to MPA management and implementation. It is currently under development and expected to further strengthen the practical value of the network from 2026 onwards.
At the time of its official launch last week, the MPA Community Network brought together eight engaged projects. Since then, it has already drawn further interest from organizations and individuals across the marine conservation community. This enthusiastic response underscores the importance and timeliness of the initiative.
The MPA Community Network originated under the Blue4All project, where it was first conceptualized as a mechanism for strengthening cooperation and impact across marine protected area efforts. With its transition into an broader platform, the community now extends beyond its original framework — ensuring both the legacy of the Blue4All project and a broader, more sustainable reach.
We invite anyone working in or interested in MPAs to connect, collaborate, and contribute. Together, we can build stronger marine protection through shared knowledge and collective action.
