World Conference for Marine Biodiversity 2026

Bruges, Belgium
-

The World Conference on Marine Biodiversity 2026 will bring together the global marine biodiversity community to assess progress, share knowledge, and shape the future of ocean conservation. Taking place 17–20 November 2026 in Bruges, Belgium, the conference marks a key moment to align science, policy, and action midway through the UN Ocean Decade.

The 7th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB 2026) will be held from 17 to 20 November 2026 in Bruges, Belgium, at the Concert Hall Bruges, and is organised by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ). As a major international gathering, the conference will convene scientists, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to exchange the latest research and discuss emerging challenges in marine biodiversity. Under the theme “The marine biodiversity insights we need, for the ocean we want,” WCMB 2026 will provide a platform to evaluate progress towards global ocean goals, advance knowledge on marine ecosystems, and explore solutions for their conservation and sustainable use. The event is endorsed as part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, reinforcing its role in supporting global ocean action.
